Fermioniq, QuiX Quantum, and Deltares Join Forces to Deliver Quantum Solutions in the Field of Hydrology

To harness the power of quantum computing for real-world applications, Fermioniq, QuiX Quantum, and Deltares have partnered to discover quantum modeling solutions that will improve water management and infrastructure.

This collaboration brings together three uniquely positioned organizations with complementary expertise on the topic of quantum improvements for hydro simulations:

●      Fermioniq: the Netherlands' only specialized quantum and quantum-inspired software company, leveraging its experience in quantum solutions and transitioning them to full quantum capabilities.
●      QuiX Quantum: a leading photonic quantum computing company and the only full-stack Dutch quantum hardware developer, contributes its quantum computing technology to support and test quantum algorithms for hydrodynamics simulations.
●      Deltares: an independent institute for applied research in the field of water and subsurface with smart solutions, innovations and applications for people, environment and society, provides domain expertise and ensures real-world applicability.

Together, these three companies are set to deliver quantum solutions for water modeling, demonstrating the potential for quantum computing to surpass classical methods in speed, scale, and precision. This initiative will explore new frontiers in hydrodynamic simulations, paving the way for enhanced water management strategies in the Netherlands and beyond.

“Quantum solutions have immense potential for enabling large-scale hydrodynamic simulations,” says Chris Cade, Chief Product Officer at Fermioniq. “By leveraging quantum-inspired techniques, we can begin realizing value today and create technology roadmaps as we anticipate advancements in hardware.”
“This milestone brings us closer to real-world applications where quantum technology can revolutionize critical sectors like water management. We are thrilled to showcase the power of quantum techniques in solving pressing global challenges,” says Dr. Jelmer Renema, Chief Scientist at QuiX Quantum.

“We are really looking forward to exploring this new technology. After decades of experience developing hydrodynamic software on traditional hardware, we are excited to delve into the possibilities of quantum hardware together with these two partners,” says Dr. Wim van Balen, Technical Manager at Deltares.

This collaboration is expected to set the foundation for further developments in quantum-powered hydrodynamic modeling, with broader implications for global water management challenges. The results are being realized as a solution to a challenge, which is funded by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Water Management, and are to be delivered to the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management / Ministry of Defence.

About Fermioniq
Fermioniq specialises in delivering advanced quantum-inspired solutions for computationally demanding physics simulations. Their first product, the quantum circuit emulation platform Ava, is capable of simulating significantly larger quantum computers than other tools on the market and is used by several industry leaders. The technology underlying Ava is being used to efficiently simulate the complex physics involved in the design processes of technologically advanced products such as aircraft, cars, radar systems, chips and new materials. This quantum-inspired approach is seamlessly integrated with quantum computing, making it straightforward for users to move to quantum computing solutions in the future.

QuiX Quantum becomes a member of the ARENA2036 research campus
ARENA2036 welcomes the QuiX Quantum team to the ecosystem! The Dutch-German company takes Europe's leading position in the field of photonic quantum computing and enriches the research campus with another key technology. The special thing about the QuiX Quantum technology is that when using photonic quantum computing, only the competitors have to dress warmly. The photonic processors can be operated almost entirely at room temperature, unlike the familiar method with superconducting qubits, and do not require costly and energy-intensive cooling. This technology offers potential for new applications and scaling possibilities from which many of ARENA2036 members will benefit.
